Bush Therapy Through Bikes Adventure and Community Support

Full power / range eMTB’s in every size are available in brands such as Merida, Cube and Polygon. These have up to a 4hr battery ride-time, which allows the rider to actually ride every trial in both the local State Forests of Bunya and Ironbark / Samford Valley. These are $7000 bikes that are designed to maximise the hire experience, and the durability to take whatever you throw at it, from amateur to advanced rider. They are pedal activated assist, and meet the QLD TMR speed restrictions of 27kph motor assist. A brief 5min ride has you in the forest, from the cafe.

Santa Cruz Super Light and AMFLOW eMTB. These 2 bikes in a size M/L are top spec in every way, and valued at double the above hire bikes. They both have up to a 3hr battery ride-time.The Santa Cruz Super Light rides and feels exactly like a light regular bike, but with a very organic and subtle delivery of motor power for the hills. (It is the Cafe owners bike). The AMFLOW however is basically an electric motorcycle, with bonkers power output, and is unbelievably still deemed legal because it is pedal activated assist, and meets the QLD TMR speed restrictions of 27kph motor assist. It is highly recommended that only advanced riders shred the AMFLOW, with a full face helmet and other protective gear (not supplied at time of hire). This is the only AMFLOW for hire in Australia, outside of a ‘deposit required test ride before purchasing’ at a bike shop like THE MOUNTAIN BIKER at Stafford.

NB: 2 forms of ID are required to be submitted to the cafe prior to hire (with current address on both). A public liability and indemnity waiver must be signed. For safety purposes, Minors can only hire and ride a eMTB in the company of an adult. A brief safety induction to the bicycle will occur before use. Helmets and water bottles can be supplied, however it’s highly recommended the rider brings their own.

Auscycling / PMBIA Certified L2 Coaching available for all ages and abilities over 10yrs old. Unlike most alternatives in Brisbane that only offer big group classes, which don’t focus on the individual, and can be very daunting for those new to the sport or those who struggle with anxiety. However Bush Therapy is all about an individual needs analysis, looking at what current capacities exist, and developing from there, at a pace that suits that individual. Since COVID, I have taken over a dozen teenagers and adults from very basic riding capacity (think riding to the shops), to now all competing in MTB racing events, and self-guided day long MTB rides with new friends all over SEQLD.
